Although most people view Arizona as simply a desert state, the truth is that the great diversity of Arizona has allowed for some considerably good snow resorts to pop up in the mountains. Although the altitude in Arizona isn't comparable to the Rockies of Colorado or the Cascades of the Northwest, it would surprise many people to hear that the peaks in the land of saguaros top well over 12,000 feet. And although you wouldn't typically consider Arizona as a planned snow sports destination, I'm sure you're shocked to hear that Arizona Snowbowl and Sunrise received over 5 feet more than top resorts like Breckenridge or Park City.
